As the nights are getting cooler and cooler and fall weather is in full swing, there’s nothing that warms the soul quite like a warm cider. Cider is almost synonymous with the cooler temperatures, whether its apple, mulberry, or cranberry, it’s always our fall go to beverage, especially at a party!
In honor of this wonderful beverage we decided to share one of our favorite fall cider recipes. This is a really simple and versatile recipe. Not only is it a warm beverage but you can adapt it, and make it a cold punch as well. It also works not only for the fall weather, but as something for the Christmas season as well. It’s kind of a “cider of all trades” so to speak.
To get started with this recipe you’re going to need a few ingredients:
1 32 oz. bottle of cranberry juice
1 11 ½ oz. can of frozen apple juice concentrate
8 whole cloves
4 cups water
½ cup sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. allspice
The first thing that you want to do is ready your spice bag. Instead of using cheesecloth we just used a coffee filter. Combine the cloves, cinnamon, and allspice and put it in an open coffee filter. Once you add the spices, you can tie it together using a rubber band, or a piece of twine. Set the spice bag aside until you get the base ready.
For your base, combine the cranberry juice, apple juice concentrate, water, and sugar into a large saucepan. Juice your orange in the pan as well, and add a bit of orange zest using a microplane or cheese grater, and mix. After this, add your spice bag to the base.
Heat the mixture on medium/low until just before it starts to boil, when it’s still in its steaming stage. Remove the spice bag and let your cider cool for just a bit, and serve in some festive mugs!
You can also add some orange slices to your cider to give it some color and flair!
We hope you guys enjoy our spiced cider recipe. Happy Fall, ya’ll!
