It’s officially summer, and that means outdoor entertaining (and gatherings in general) are in full swing. We know it’s always tempting for us this time of year to just let our diet fall to the wayside and take advantage of every fattening thing people offer us at a party; but just because you’re invited to a million BBQ’s and pool parties, doesn’t mean you have to lose track of nutrition and keeping your body in balance. That’s where great products like Weight Watchers cheese products come in. Now we know what you’re thinking, Weight Watchers? reduced cheese? Bahh! It won’t taste like the real thing! Well, that’s where you’re wrong.
Weight Watchers cheese is real and all natural cheese, they just have less fat than regular cheeses. Plus they taste just like the real thing! You definitely shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste to get a healthier option like Weight Watchers cheese, and they know this. So they didn’t! You have the great taste of real and all natural cheese AND less fat. What more could you want? We wanted to mention that they are a great price too. We picked up the Weight Watchers Whipped Cream Cheese at our local Kroger, and the price is super competitive compared to regular cream cheese, which is definitely a good thing!
To give you guys some cream cheese inspiration for your next summer gathering we wanted to make a Classic Cheeeball recipe. This recipe is classic to us at least, some of our friends originally made it, and we have loved it ever since.
Here’s what you’ll need:
2 Tubs of Weight Watchers Whipped Cream Cheese
1/2 bunch of green onion tops(chopped)
2 jars of dried beef
1 tsp. accent salt
The first step is with your dried beef. Using a food processor/chopper, process the jars of beef until they’re small. Once they’re processed, split up the beef (in half) and set aside.
In a bowl, combine half of the dried beef, cream cheese, green onion tops (chopped), and accent salt.
Mix the mixture together. It seems gross but the best way to get this to come out evenly mixed and right is to just use your hands (make sure they’re clean of course!). Once it’s all mixed, lay out the other half the dried beef on a cutting board or counter top and spread it out.
Take the cheeseball mixture out of the bowl and roll it into a big ball in your hands. Then roll it in the dried beef so that it creates a nice coating. Once it’s all coated, set on a plate and let it chill in the fridge for about 20 mins or so, until its nice and firm.
Sit out, pair with your favorite cracker, and enjoy! It’s really great to take to a summer gathering or potluck. Not only is it delish, but by using the Weight Watchers Whipped Cream Cheese, it has less fat!
You can check out more about Weight Watchers cheeses on their site, as well as get some serious recipe inspiration!

Yes we agree!
I love a good cheeseball at parties! This one is perfect since it has less fat… and dried beef.

Yes!
I love a good cheeseball but have never tried to make one. This looks delicious and easy enough that I could make it!
You should give it a shot, its really easy!
I make this often, just put a shot of Worcestershire & I use Pastrami. Any meat is good. I don’t roll mine in the meat. Very good & easy.
Ohhh that sounds good as well!
Oh my goodness, this looks sooooo good! My mouth was watering just looking at the photos!
Pinning this to my Recipes board so I don’t lose it! Looks really tasty!

Mollie
Yup, any cream cheese will be awesome with it! 🙂
I miss that the cheesballs I loved so much as a child are no longer quite as easy to find. Thanks for sharing your version, and bringing it back in style! Happy Foodie FriDIY!

So..this is essentially nothing more than an advertisement for Weight Watchers cheese. Thanks for the recipe! I will take it and use my favorite brand full fat cheese 🙂
haha! No problem Sherri, your full fat cheese will work. That’s the point of a sponsored post, to promote the product ;). Plus give great recipes to use said product in! 😀
What att the smart points or nutrition facts?
The smart points for the cheese itself is 3 points per serving. I’m not sure about the whole recipe
I use one jar of beef and roll cheese ball in finely chopped pecans or almonds. Great flavor combo and not as salty!
Oh nice! That sounds good as well. I’m a huge fan of nuts so I would totally be down!
Oops, should have been walnuts… not almonds. Never tried it with almonds, but it might be good! Lol
I add white horseradish to mine!
Ohh that sounds lovely!
How many points is in it?
I’m not sure about the whole recipe but the cheese itself has 3 smartpoints per serving.
If anyone is worried about the salt, pour boiling water over the beef, let it stand a few minutes, and drain and rinse in cold water, then pat it dry. Really freshens it, have been doing this for 50 years, and learned it from an 1890’s cookbook, from a grandmother when I got married, LOL
Oh nice that’s a great idea! Never thought of it! Thank you so much!!!
Please remove your advertisement from my Facebook page. I can’t get it to go away! Thank you. justiceedwards
We don’t have any advertisement on your page…
Dear Hannah and Sarah:: I congratulate you on your site however, I am trying to get your cheese ball depiction off my web page and it won’t let go! Can you remove it? First of all it looks unappetizing, and second in my opinion, cheese ought to be kept chilled and served chilled and sliced. When you warm it up to create a ‘ball,’ you introduce all kinds of harmful bacteria. Please do not encourage cheese balls! With bare hands. Also, your display of large russet potatoes for the ham dish, look un scrubbed. Did you take a look at your depiction. Otherwise, Good luck. Lydia in Idaho
1.) We don’t have an ad on your Facebook page/web page. Or we didn’t put it there. We were promoted with a Facebook ad through Social Fabric recently for this post. If that’s what you are referring to, we have no control over who sees our ads there.
2.) This cheese was not warmed. We took it straight from the fridge. The whipped texture of the whipped cream cheese we used means that its always soft, and “whipped”. We encourage cheeseballs because they taste awesome! Sara was the one making it and I made sure she washed her hands with soap and water before handing the food. That’s a basic part of food safety that we strive to uphold.
3.) I’m not sure what ham dish you are referring to, but we always wash our potatoes before cooking, and in fact, Sara has a scrubber dedicated to washing potatoes. Washing veggies either really well in water, or in vegetable wash, is something that we always do for every dish.
How do I un suscribe? Cant seem to get your logo off my website. Thanks for your help. Lydia
We don’t have an ad on your facebook page, and you are not an email subscriber. I’m really at a loss as to what you’re talking about
