DIY Branch Decor

Hold on to your hats, people! We actually have a DIY today.*insert shocked emoji face*  I decided to make this branch DIY decor accessory. I saw a metal tree in Hobby Lobby awhile ago and loved it. Until I looked at the price tag. It costs over $30, and that’s at half price.*insert 10 shocked emoji faces* I don’t know about you gals but I’d rather buy shoes for that much money.

So I was inspired to make something similar for less money, I will say the DIY doesn’t look as polished, but it’s still super pretty. Plus it was super easy to make, which makes any DIY better.

Here’s what all you’ll need:

Branches (from your backyard)
A wood block
Black spray paint
Gold spray paint
Black acrylic paint (to touch up)
Liquid nails

Gather up some branches from your backyard, they can be any size or length you want. I just tried to have them all be around the same size so it would be easier to drill the holes in the wood block.

Drill holes into a wood block. We just went to our local lumber yard and asked for a piece of wood that’s about 5 to 6 inches long, and the guy just gave a scrap piece. Talk about a good deal, lol. Hannah’s brother actually drilled the holes he used a 9/16 drill bit size.

After the holes are drilled spray paint the block black and the branches gold. You’ll want to make sure you get the branches covered in gold so make sure you get all sides, let it dry and give it another coat. You can do whatever colors you want, I just have a slight obsession with black and gold and think the colors look so good together.

Once the paint is dry fill the holes with the liquid nails and put the sticks in at whatever arrangement you prefer. I just did it randomly so it looks more organic. Prop up the branches and let the liquid nails dry, as you can see we only use the professional stuff for our DIYs. 😉

When the liquid nails dry it turns white, so you’ll wan to stop the clashing of the white with the black and gold. Because nobody wants that!

So there you have it, a pretty and neat DIY for your home decor, you can also use this as a jewelry holder or just a, accessory to add to your living space.

What color combos are you obsessed with?
