Having a fall party, or nice dinner is never complete without having an awesome tablescape and some fabulous decor. So today we’re showing you just a quick fall tablescape that you can do, as well as make some DIY chalkboard coasters that are perfect for any party – fall, or not!
All of our decorations were sent to us by the wonderful people over at Oriental Trading. We have loved going to them for party decorations for local fall festivals and the like for years. They have tons of awesome stuff, especially for the fall/Halloween season. They also have a great selection of costumes for adults & kids! All of the decor we got came shipped perfectly so that nothing broke, and they even took extra pains to make sure that the glass for our lanterns would not break at all.
When we were picking out our items we knew we wanted to really embrace the oranges and golds of fall, but we didn’t want it to read too much like Halloween. Our goal was to keep it very fall seasonal, so you can use this anytime between late September, all the way through Thanksgiving. We settled on a few key items and wanted to build around from there. Our set of Orange Metal Lanterns was going to be our main focus. We’ve seen similar lanterns like these around but Oriental Trading had them for such a wonderful price! With some tall candles placed inside, it all looks so good.
Next we set the scape with these gorgeous Gold Glitter Pumpkin Votive Holders and Wood Centerpiece. The votive holders were probably our favorite part of our decor. We definitely believe that glitter is for all seasons, and fall is the best place to bring on the gold glitter! We loved how sparkly these were, believe us it’s much more gorgeous in person. By setting them on the wood centerpiece it really enhanced the whole organic fall look of our table.
On the opposite side, we placed this Two Tier Autumn Leaves Server. We used it to just hold some fall themed candies in paper cups, but this would be perfect to showcase some mini cupcakes, muffins, or any small dessert. Plus the leaves fold up for easy storage, which is definitely a plus for us.
Of course we finished everything off with some of Sara’s gold rimmed china, burgundy cloth napkins, fake leaves, and gold silverware. We also picked up these birch coasters they complement our scape, plus we would definitely use these for more seasons than just fall. You can also use them to make some fin DIY chalkboard coasters, for when you have guests over. This is such an easy way to keep track of who’s drink is who’s, plus they can double as a place setting.
Simply use some chalkboard paint and paint one side of the coasters. You will probably need to put 2 coats on it, then let dry. Once the paint is dry you’re ready to add a name! Take some chalk and write a name, a greeting, whatever you want. Then once your guests go home, wipe/wash off the chalk and turn your coaster over so the wood is showing again. Easy peasy!
We hope that this inspired you guys to create a wonderful fall tablescape, especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner! Thanks again to our friends at Oriental Trading for inspiring us for the season! Have a wonderful week guys, and happy fall!
