Hey everyone! We’re totally reviving The Morning Brew, but making it The Monthly Brew. Lets face it, our everyday lives are a little too boring to do a Morning Brew post every week. We were really hitting a wall. haha. So we decided to just do it every month – hence The Monthly Brew.
If you weren’t familiar with The Morning Brew when we did it a while back, we would make a post sharing some of our favorite things, and things that we’re loving; plus show you a glimpse into our day to day. We also love sharing our favorite blog posts from other bloggers around the web, so we’ll be doing that as well.
You can also check us out every week on our podcast The Evening Brew!
So pull up a chair, grab a hot mug of coffee (or tea!) and join us here on The Monthly Brew. Feel free to leave a comment, and share about your past month as well. We’d love to hear what everyone’s been up to!
1 & 2) For some reason I’ve been wanting Circus Animal Cookies for the last 6 months. And I went in the store on Valentines day and saw the bag in the cookie aisle and decided to pick them up as a gift to myself. I have regretted nothing! They are so good and remind me of homemade cookies but better because they’re colorful and covered in frosting. I. am. obsessed. Since I’ve had them I’ve only had one more bag, because they’re too addicting, and I’m trying to do this whole healthy thing and cut back on sugar. *insert crying emoji face*
3.) I always prefer to go to local coffee shops to get coffee rather than go to chain places. I love to go to Paper City Coffee in Chillicothe, OH when I need to do some work and have a good cup of coffee. It’s such a relaxed and laid back environment, it’s easy to go there and do work or have lunch. If you’re in the area I highly recommend it. If you’re not in the area, you should always try and go to local places to support the community businesses.
4.) Earlier this month we got a watch from JORD, and I have been loving it and wearing it nonstop. The colors go together with so many outfits, and I love the wood element it adds to a look. You can read more about it in this blog post and enter to win a contest!
1.) I found this cactus light at my local TJ Maxx and have been obsessed with it ever since! I’m a lover of all things cactus and succulent so I was stoked to find this.
2.) Comic Bento have been one of my favorite companies forever now, but they recently upped their status with me. If you don’t know, they are a comic subscription box that send you surprise trade paperbacks every month. Last month their theme was red and blue and I was sad they didn’t include a Wonder Woman comic. So when they asked what people thought on Facebook I basically said I loved the box but was sad WW wasn’t in there. The manager messaged me and said they would send me something special in a few weeks. Then I was pleasantly suprised to see that they sent me my own Wonder Woman one! I was very excited. I was so impressed because not only was it WW, it was a decently expensive thick volume of comics. Plus they just sent it out of the kindness of their hearts. A company that does that, doesn’t get much better in my opinion.
3.) Keeping with the comic theme… Comic Bento also sent a killer comic in my last box I really enjoyed. It was Wild Cards: The Hard Call by George R.R. Martin (yes, of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice & Fire). I loved the whole world that he has set up in these that is completely unlike what I’ve read in other comics. I’m excited to get the other volumes and really do a deep dive in the Wild Cards world. I will give a quick disclaimer, it has a lot of adult language and violence – so not for the young children.
February wasn’t too crazy of a month for me. I’ve just been working a lot and trying to catch up on some blog and personal things. Our stove finally kicked the bucket after having it for probably 20 years, lol. So we got a new one! It’s really nice to have burners that work all the time and have a oven light. It’s the simple things in life that make a difference. I realized that the days are starting to get longer and it’s still light past 5! I was in a restaurant and saw this sunset and couldn’t help but to take a picture. I didn’t add any filters too!
I’m starting to experiment more with face masks, as you can see I’ve progressed and getting more serious with them. Lol I still want to use a couple and see how it goes. I’ll be sure to update you guys at the end of this month.
This month wasn’t exciting for me either unfortunately. I was mortified to see a terrible photo of me at our work Christmas party on the bulletin board at work. Yikes. I’m pretty sure they use that one to keep the mice away. I’m also loving the signs of spring all around. I even went to Lowe’s and picked out some cactus and succulents in anticipation of the planting season. Planting flowers and keeping up my garden is one of my favorite things, and I can’t wait to get back at it. I also hung out a lot with this adorable little fluffiness – my dog Mo. He’s my buddy when my Dad isn’t home, and he’s just so darn cute. I don’t usually believe in fortune cookies but once in a while you get one that is really encouraging. This was the one for me this month.
