Hi guys! As you know I’m basically the Queen of Color around here with my style, so today I thought I would share with you 5 Ways to Wear a Pop of Color. These are how I personally use color to make my outfits & looks stand out, or “pop” if you will. I will warn you, once you start wearing lots of color, and pops of color, it can be addicting… which isn’t a bad thing in my book!
This first look is what you typically have when people talk about pops of color. This is baby stepping on the color train as I say. Basically the main clothes you are wearing are pretty plain, but you go for color in your accessories. In this outfit I brightened up my black and blue combo with pink/colorful jewelry and shoes. Even if you aren’t too crazy about wearing a lot of color, this is the perfect way to incorporate some into your look, without feeling uncomfortable, and not too flashy.
This second look goes right in line with the first on pops of color. I added a little more brightness with my white top but still kept it really plain. Adding the bright pink combat boots really added some punch and fun to my look, without being too overwhelming.
You can also do pops of color by changing one of the main articles of clothing you’re wearing to something more colorful. I tend to do this a lot with colored denim (as you’ll see below), but here I made the shirt I’m wearing the central focus, and kept the rest of my outfit toned down with a lot of blacks.
This is probably the way I add color to my looks the most. As you know I love colored pants/ denim. So I tend to use my pants to give a pop of color to my look. In this I kept it neutral/black with my outfit, and just wore some fun bright pink pants.
This next look is basically color pop level maximum, used by color lovers like me. It’s almost like a pop of color within color. I like to take a mostly monochromatic look, in this case, blue, and add different colors with the accessories, or sometimes with a cardigan. Here I’ve accentuated the blues in this look by adding pink accessories. I still look like the Queen of Color, but it’s not so much that it’s overwhelming. In this particular look I used the white in the shirt, and grey in the cardigan to balance everything out and make the color less bold & in your face.
I hope these looks helped give you guys inspiration to get out there and wear some color! Don’t be afraid of trying new color combos and new “pops”, while finding your perfect style.
