We had such a great time visiting Butler County Ohio last month. There were so many things to see and do! I definitely recommend making a weekend trip and seeing all of the wonderful things Butler County has to offer. Here are some of our favorite places that we visited there, and definitely suggest you seeing on your visit as well.
1.) The Donut Trail! – This was one of the main reasons we came to Butler County, and it totally didn’t disappoint. The Donut Trail is basically a series of donut shops in the area. You pick up your passport at any of the shops and hit the trail! You can get your passport stamped at each shop that you visit. Once you have all of the stamps collected, you can mail or drop off your passport to get a Donut Trail T-shirt! it’s a great way to see all of the different shops and their vibes, plus be able to try some delicious donuts! You can do this trip all at once, or you can just do a few one day, and do more later on. I definitely recommend doing this early in the morning, as most of the donut shops close early (when they run out of donuts). The early bird gets the donut! Our two favorites that we visited were Jupiter Coffee & Donuts, and The Donut House!
2.) Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum – Surrounded by acres of nature, the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum was a beautiful place to visit. It features a lot sculptures by many different artists, showcased in the landscape. You can get a great workout admiring the scenery by walking the park, or you can rent an Art Cart and ride through. It’s a pretty huge place, so I definitely recommend renting the cart. We stopped a few times and got out to visit some sculptures up close, and just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s also a great place for a picnic! They have a lot of hiking trails in addition to the regular park route.
3.) Jungle Jim’s International Market – If you’re a foodie, love cooking, or just love food in general, you’ll definitely want to make a stop at Jungle Jim’s International Market. It’s a huge store that has almost everything you could want, from fresh sushi to ostrich eggs, they have it. I really loved the vibe of this store. The owner has really eclectic tastes, so there’s something to see around every corner. There is a lot of older amusement park attractions and animatronics on display that makes it fun for kids to enjoy as well.
4.) High St. Cafe – I had to include our favorite restaurant that we tried in here. I’m always in search of a great soup & sandwich type place, with a chill atmosphere, and the High St. Cafe was definitely it! We stopped here for breakfast and was blown away by how great the food was. My dad & brother got unnaturally excited about how good their biscuits, french toast & breakfast in general was. We talked with the main cook there and found out that they make everything from scratch, even down to the biscuits. That’s something we can totally get behind and recommend. Not only did this place have awesome food, but they have a sort of antique shop there as well. So while you’re eating some delicious food, you can browse the antiques! The vibe in this place was so amazing, and I could totally see myself being a regular, if I lived in the area.
5.) Benninghofen House – If you’re a history buff like we are you will definitely enjoy stopping in at the Benninghofen House. It is a beautiful historical house with a lot of the original furniture and decor! What isn’t original has been donated to the historical society. It was so amazing to take a tour of the house and not only learn more about it, but everyday life in the past as well. I highly recommend setting up a tour with the historical society! We went on a tour with some other guests, and the guides from the historical society were super engaging and knowledgeable. I’ve been on tours before that were super boring, but these ladies really knew their stuff! Even the kids that were touring also were super engaged and ready to learn.
Those places are just a taste of the awesome places we visited in Butler County Ohio! To see more from our trip, and more recommendations on places to visit, you can check out my full travel post!
